  Your first monument of the day is the grand Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of Mughal power and architecture. Built primarily from red sandstone, the fort was the main residence of the Mughal emperors until 1638. As you walk through its impressive gates and palatial halls, you’ll explore structures like the Jahangiri Mahal (a palace built for Akbar’s wife), Khas Mahal (the Emperor’s private residence), and Musamman Burj—where Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb, with a view of the Taj Mahal across the river.   Post-lunch, your next visit is to Itimad-ud-Daulah’s Tomb, often lovingly called the "Baby Taj." This elegant mausoleum was commissioned by Nur Jahan, the wife of Emperor Jahangir, for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg. It is considered the first Mughal structure built entirely in white marble and is also the first to use pietra dura inlay work—semi-precious stones embedded into marble, later perfected in the Taj Mahal. With its Persian-style architecture, lattice screens (jali work), and garden setting, the Baby Taj stands out as a delicate and refined prototype of the Taj Mahal.
